About this site
This site is an unofficial, community resource that republishes the content of the MG IM6 owner's handbook (UK edition) in a format that is easier to search and navigate than the original PDF.
How it's built
The handbook is a static website generated from the official PDF. A small Python
pipeline (tools/extract.py, built on PyMuPDF) parses the PDF and turns
each section into a Markdown file with structured frontmatter — title, chapter,
level, page number and reading order. Tables are detected and converted to Markdown
tables, callouts such as Note and Warning become styled
boxes, and illustrations are extracted as images with descriptive alt text.
Those Markdown files feed an Astro content collection, which is compiled into a fully static site: no server, database or build-time API. Styling uses Tailwind CSS, and Pagefind builds a search index at build time so the search box works entirely in the browser.
Tech stack
- Astro — static site framework
- Tailwind CSS — styling
- Pagefind — client-side search
- PyMuPDF — PDF extraction
- remark-directive — callout syntax
